After the Round

Somebody has just said something funny. Three women sit round a small table on a timber clubhouse veranda, laughing. One wears a cream jumper, one a green polo shirt, and the third, with grey hair, a pink knitted waistcoat. On the table are glasses of red wine, a glass water jug and two caps put down for the day. A brown leather golf bag leans against the rail, and past it the course spreads out in evening light, with trees and winding paths.

It is drawn as a vintage sporting illustration, the kind you might see in an old magazine, in sepia, cream and bottle green. It is warm and sociable, which makes it a fond gift for a regular group of friends or for someone who loves the drink after the game. Hang it in a dining room, a kitchen or near the drinks.

The framed poster shows the timber roof above and the chairs below. On the metal print the crop runs wider, keeping all three women, the bag and the view. The mug crops in tighter, to the bag, the woman in green and the course behind.
