A woman holding her finish, drawn in charcoal on toned paper
The drive is away, and she is watching it go. A young woman with a long plait holds a high finish, club wrapped behind her head, weight on her front foot and back heel up. She wears a short-sleeved shirt under a dark knitted tank top, with light trousers and golf shoes. A fairway lined with tall trees runs away behind her to a bunker in the distance.
A finish is the pose a golfer holds at the end of the swing. The drawing is charcoal on toned paper, which means a soft beige paper instead of plain white, so the light highlights stand out. The greys are smudged and the lines are quick and sure. It is a strong gift for a young golfer, a daughter who has just got her handicap, or anyone who loves a good swing. It suits a bedroom, a hallway or a study.
The framed poster shows her from club to shoes. The framed canvas and the metal print crop wider and cut away the raised club and her feet, keeping her body, the plait and the trees. On the metal print the top of her head goes too.
