The Long Fourth: Retro Golf Poster

Only a few colours make up The Long Fourth: deep fairway green, heather purple, cream and black ink. The fairway sweeps in a big S from the bottom of the picture up towards the horizon, with a cream bunker tucked into the bend. Purple heather and spiky grasses crowd both edges. At the top, a strip of sky carries soft purple clouds and a dark band of ink.

A dogleg is a hole that bends left or right partway along, so you cannot see the green from the tee. Heathland is open, sandy ground covered in heather, inland from the coast. This picture is drawn the way old travel posters were, in flat shapes with crisp outlines and no shading. That keeps it bold and tidy, which suits a modern home, an office, a landing or a hallway with white or pale grey walls.

The tall picture shows the sky and the clouds. The poster and the wood print crop wider and lower, cutting the sky out, so you get just the curve of green, the bunker and the purple heather. The framed poster keeps the whole scene, clouds and all.
