Sand exploding from a bunker, as a bold linocut
Whoosh. A tall plume of sand shoots up out of the bunker in white and ochre streaks. At the bottom of it, the club head is still down in the sand. The golfer, all in red, leans into the shot with his head down. High above the spray, a white ball flies towards a red flag on the green, with dark trees and hills behind.
A linocut is a print made by carving a picture into a block of lino, inking it and pressing it onto paper. That is where the chunky black lines and cross-hatching come from. This picture has that look, in just three colours: sand ochre, black and signal red. It is full of energy, so it suits a games room, a garage, an office or a teenager's bedroom. It also makes a fun gift for anyone who spends a lot of time in bunkers, and knows it.
The framed poster and the mug keep the ball and the flag at the top. On the canvas and the other wide formats, the crop cuts the top away, so you get the big splash of sand and the golfer in red, with just the flagpole showing.
