A woman splashing out of a bunker, in linocut style
Bunker shots look like this when they go right. A woman golfer swings through the sand, which sprays up in a bright arc of white and cream, and the ball is already rising towards the flag. She has her hair tied back and wears a dark polo shirt, a skirt over dark leggings and golf shoes. Behind her the green rolls away to a red flag, a tree and a sky streaked with red.
The style copies a linocut print, with thick black carved lines and only three colours: sand ochre, black and signal red. It is lively and strong, and it pairs well with The Bunker Blast, which uses the same colours for a male golfer. Hang the two side by side for a couple who both play, or put this one in a games room, an office or a hallway.
The framed poster shows her whole figure and the flag. The wider formats, like metal and wood, crop in close, cutting away the top of her head and the flag, so the arc of sand, her arms, the club and the ball fill the frame.
