Golf society order of merit

Paste each event's finishing order and get the season's table. Use our points scheme or type your society's own, split ties fairly, and count only each player's best results if you like.

How to use it

Start each event with a line beginning #, like # April medal. Then list the players in finishing order, one a line. Leave a blank line before the next event. If two players tie, put them on one line with an equals sign: Dev Patel = Jo Ellis.

Names are matched whatever the capitals, so dev patel and Dev Patel count as one player. Spell them the same way each time.

Our points scheme

There is no official order of merit scheme for societies, so the default here is ours. You get one point for every player you finish ahead of, plus one for playing. In a field of 12 the winner gets 12 and last place gets 1. A win in a big field is worth more than a win in a small one.

Prefer your own? Type points by place, like 10 8 6 5 4 3 2 1, and set the points for everyone else who played.

Ties and best results

Tied players share the places they cover and split those points equally. Two players tied for second in a field of five share the points for second and third.

Set Count best to, say, 6 and only each player's six best events count. That way, missing a month does not end anyone's season.
